Subject Overview
At Tibshelf Community School we believe music is a universal language that fosters creativity, discipline, and collaboration.
Our comprehensive music programme offers students of all skill levels the opportunity to explore and develop their musical talents. Through a combination of performance, theory, and appreciation, students gain a deeper understanding of various musical genres and cultures.
Our curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong passion for music, whether students are beginners learning their first notes or advanced musicians honing their craft.
By participating in music lessons, students not only enhance their technical abilities but also build confidence, teamwork, and self-expression.

1:1 Music Lessons
From September this year, students can benefit from private lessons, learning to play a particular instrument. Any pupils who are interested can choose to work with one of five instrumental tutors for the following instruments:
- Andy Stone – Guitar
- Paul Bunting – Drums
- Helen Wallace-Batley – Piano & Woodwind
- Hayley-Rose – Vocals
- Daryl Sharpe – Strings (violin & viola)
Each individual lesson is 20 minutes and are available to all students in Year 7 - Year 11
